- Coughing, especially at night, early in the morning or with exercise
- Shortness of breath or chest tightness
- Symptoms that flare with colds, allergies, cold air, smoke or exercise
How we help
- A clear diagnosis: your history, an exam and breathing tests to confirm asthma or COPD and see how your lungs are working.
- The right inhalers: a daily controller medicine when you need one, plus a reliever for flare-ups, and a check of your inhaler technique, because how you use it matters.
- A written action plan: what to take every day, what to do when symptoms get worse, and when to call or go to the ER.
- Treating triggers: help with allergies, reflux and smoking, which can all make breathing worse.
- Vaccines: flu, COVID-19 and pneumonia vaccines to help prevent serious chest infections.
- Specialist care in the same office: for severe or hard-to-control asthma, and for COPD, pulmonologist Dr. Bangalore can see you here.
When to get emergency help
Call 911 if you are struggling to breathe or speak, your lips or fingernails look blue or gray, or your reliever inhaler isn't helping.
COPD
COPD, which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, usually affects people who smoke or used to smoke. It causes ongoing shortness of breath, cough and mucus. With the right inhalers, vaccines, help quitting smoking and regular follow-up, many people stay active and avoid hospital stays.
Frequently asked questions
Can adults develop asthma?
Yes. Asthma can start at any age, and adult-onset asthma is common. A new cough or wheeze that keeps coming back should be checked.
How do I know if my asthma is well controlled?
Well-controlled asthma means few daytime symptoms, no night waking, little need for your reliever inhaler and no limits on activity. If you use your reliever more than twice a week, let us know.
Do you treat allergies?
Yes. We treat seasonal and year-round allergies, which often trigger asthma, and can refer you for allergy testing if needed.
Is my insurance accepted?
We accept most major plans, including Medicare and NJ FamilyCare. Call to confirm your specific plan.
