Back pain, neck pain and minor injury care in Edison, NJ

Most back and neck pain, and most sprains and strains, get better with the right early care. Anil Singh, MD will find the likely cause, rule out anything serious and help you get moving again, often without the cost of urgent care.

What we treat

  • Low back pain: muscle strain, stiffness, sciatica (pain running down the leg)
  • Neck pain: strain from posture, sleep or desk work, and stiffness after minor accidents
  • Minor injuries: ankle and wrist sprains, muscle strains, bruises and minor sports injuries
  • Shoulder and knee pain from overuse

How we help

  • A careful exam to find the cause and check nerves, strength and movement.
  • Imaging only when it helps: most new back pain doesn't need an X-ray or MRI, but we order them when the history or exam calls for it.
  • Safe pain relief: we choose medicines with your heart, stomach and kidney health in mind. Anti-inflammatory pills such as ibuprofen aren't safe for everyone, and Dr. Singh's kidney expertise matters here.
  • Activity and home care: stretching, heat or ice, and when to return to work and exercise.
  • Referral to physical therapy, orthopedics or spine specialists if pain persists.

Frequently asked questions

Should I see my primary care doctor or urgent care for back pain?

For most back pain, sprains and strains, your primary care doctor is a good first stop. We often have same-day visits, know your medical history, and can choose medicines that are safe for you.

Do I need an MRI for back pain?

Usually not at first. Most back pain improves within a few weeks. Imaging is ordered when there are warning signs, a significant injury, or pain that doesn't improve.

Is ibuprofen safe for my back pain?

Not for everyone. Anti-inflammatory medicines can affect the kidneys, stomach and blood pressure. Dr. Singh will recommend the safest option for you.
