Vaccines we recommend for adults
- Flu shot: every year for adults, ideally in September or October, before flu season peaks. Available in our office during flu season.
- Pneumonia vaccine: for adults 50 and older, and younger adults with diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease.
- Shingles vaccine: two doses for adults 50 and older, to prevent the painful shingles rash and nerve pain.
- Tdap / Td: tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough protection, with a booster every 10 years.
- Hepatitis B: recommended for adults with diabetes and others at risk.
- RSV vaccine: for older adults and those at higher risk of serious RSV illness.
COVID-19 vaccines
We don't give COVID-19 vaccines in our office. If a COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for you, for example because of your age or health conditions, Dr. Singh will advise you and you can get it at a local pharmacy.
Cost and insurance
Most recommended adult vaccines are covered by insurance, including Medicare, usually with no co-pay. Some vaccines, such as shingles, are covered under Medicare Part D at pharmacies, so we may recommend getting those there. Call us to check your coverage.
Bring your vaccine records
If you've had vaccines at a pharmacy or another doctor's office, bring the dates to your visit so we can keep your record complete.
